Former Avanade CHRO Dave Gartenberg to Chair i4cp's Up Next Cohort
The Institute for Corporate Productivity (i4cp) has appointed Dave Gartenberg, former CHRO of Avanade and Slalom Consulting, as chair of its popular development program, the Up Next Cohort, designed to prepare HR leaders to become Chief Human Resource Officers.
Gartenberg, who also served in various senior HR roles at Microsoft for over a decade, will offer his expertise to participants alongside other current and former CHROs, thought leaders, and i4cp research analysts.
The Up Next Cohort runs annually—kicking off with an in-person meeting on March 27, 2023 in Scottsdale, AZ at the i4cp Next Practices Now Conference. It is limited to 18 members, who take part in virtual sessions together throughout the rest of 2023.
Now approaching its third year, the Up Next Cohort has seen over 30% of its participants advance to a CHRO role within six months of completion of the program.

HR professionals who aspire to senior leadership must be prepared to deal with a multitude of responsibilities—some of which they’ve likely had limited or no experience with at this stage in their careers.
From working with the Board of Directors and building trust with the CEO, to understanding compensation structures, setting strategic vision, analyzing workforce data and readiness, and how diversity, equity, & inclusion embeds into every strategy, practice, and policy—every future leader has knowledge gaps they need to close.
i4cp’s Up Next Cohort develops CHRO readiness through:

- Network building
Designed by experienced CHROs and endorsed by i4cp’s Chief HR Officer Board, the cohort is an exclusive, unparalleled development opportunity for HR leaders who are just one step away from their next big move.
“I look forward to working with a new wave of HR leaders and helping them build the capability and understanding to take their career to the next level,” said Gartenberg. “Further, participants in this group build deep, long-lasting relationships with each other—relationships that serve as invaluable resources down the road.”
