April 16, 2015 Virtual Call

A few key themes from our meeting on Workforce Planning 2020.

Highlights of the discussion:

· How a changing business landscape requires new approaches to workforce planning (leaders are renaming and rebranding their talent planning practices),

· Why practitioners need to be laser-focused on what leaders need today (understanding their unique mindset),

· Setting talent planning priorities from the leader's perspective (pain, gain, and outcomes),

· How to use design thinking focused in problem solving ("you will be known for the problems you solve"),

· How to use lean start up practices, leverage the customer point of view, and get constant feedback,

· Building simpler frameworks for planning and analytics capability ("Get, Think, Speak, Act"),

· Building capability in small steps and learning to "pivot" in response to feedback/market change,

· Preparing your organization for talent planning with new mindsets, skillsets and toolsets.

We also shared the results of our recent survey indicating top interest in effective data management practices, risk identification, and ongoing integration of talent practices. (See attached for a summary of your results).
